Best Food Forward
Key Verse: “And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!’” (Romans 10:15).
Have you ever made a New Year’s resolution? If you’re a human being that lives on the planet Earth, you probably have. Every year I make resolution after resolution, hoping in my mind, yeah, this is the year I’ll finally do it. I’ll finally get it right! Then about a week into the new year I find myself drifting away from goals that didn’t really add value to my life. So what’s the solution to accomplishing a resolution? Well, simply put your best foot forward in everything you do. But, what does that really look like in real life? Thankfully, God has shown us what it means to have the best feet, and moving them forward.
In Romans 10, the author (Paul) is talking about how the message of salvation needs to be spread to all people of all nations. He states that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. He then goes on to say that all who call on the name of the Lord will be saved. But, if they don’t believe in him, how can they call on his name? If the people do not hear of Jesus, then how can they believe in him? And if no one preaches the word to them, how can they hear it? Finally, he goes on to say that in order for believers to preach to them, believers must be sent. The feet of those who bring the good news are beautiful because they are carrying the beautiful message of Jesus’ death and resurrection.
When was the last time you witnessed to someone? I encourage you to take the opportunity to share the beautiful message of Jesus to someone. Take a leap of faith. Go to a supermarket and have a conversation with someone in an aisle. Call an old friend who doesn’t believe in Jesus and develop relationship with them. There are so many opportunities before you to preach the good news. So go ahead, put your best foot forward.
Be still and know that He is God. Quiet your heart and mind. Let the verse sink deep into your heart. Pray the verse to God.
Worship God for who He is! Spend time worshipping God for His beautiful message of salvation.
Repent. Ask God to reveal anything you struggle with that needs repentance.
Present your requests before God. Seek and you will find. There is nothing to big or too small for our God. Approach his throne with boldness, and tell your Father what you need. Ask Him to give you the will and the courage to go out and preach the good news.
Seal what God has done within you. Write down what you feel God is speaking to you in this moment, and be sure it does not contradict with His Word.
