Be Strong in the Lord
Key Verse: “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Ephesians 6:10
Sometimes I don’t feel like I am operating out of strength. In fact, there are many days it seems that I am limping along. So much to do and so many decisions to be made daily; let alone all the inner attitudes and thoughts that I deal with moment by moment. Not to mention I have a sinful nature that likes to make war with my spirit. I have my temptations, my very weak areas.
Ephesians 6:10 says, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power! Wonderful God-inspired words through Paul. Ephesians is an interesting book. It is a letter emphasizing, reminding, and giving the people of Ephesus a firm foundation of what it means to be a Christian. Paul wanted them to fully understand what Jesus had done for them on the cross. Teaching them how they are now alive in Christ and what that means in practical terms of living out living IN Christ.
The first half of Ephesians is laying a foundation of teaching and then the second half of Ephesians is equipping Christians on how to apply that teaching. So then we find ourselves reading, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and his mighty power.” Ephesians 6:10. Paul has laid a foundation and now he is saying be strong in the Lord. God is a God of strength and power! This day to day living must done in God’s strength, his power. We can get off track and begin to rely on our own human effort. Our human effort will fall short. Because we need God’s strength and His mighty power to really live out our relationship with Jesus.
What strength are you operating out of? Yours or God’s? Our strength is limited but God’s strength in unlimited. What areas in your life are you trying to rely on your strength? Marriage? Parenting? Finances? Ministry? Work? Addictions? God is waiting for you to come to Him to find his strength and see his mighty power at work in your everyday life.
Be Still and know that He is God. Sit quietly and take a moment to read Ephesians 6:10. Ask the Holy Spirit to make it come alive in your life. Ask Him to reveal His strength and power to you personally. Ask Him to teach you how to begin walking in His strength.
Worship Him! Spend some time remembering and rejoicing that we love a God who is strong and he is mighty in power!
Repent. We all can fall into a trap of relying our own resources and strength. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal where your not trusting Him and not operating out of His strength.
Present your requests before God: God cares about your life. He knows what you face each day and the areas of your life you working on overcoming. Ask him to me all your needs and trust in His character to answer.
Be still and know He is God. You have talked to God and now take some time to listen. Write down what he might be saying to about His strength and your life. Are there things he is asking you to do? Write them down and then be quick to obey.
